Stress Relief strategies for Busy Business people so that they can stay focused and avoid stressful situations like worrying about the future

Stress Relief strategies for Busy Business people so that they can stay focused and avoid stressful situations like worrying about the future. Stress relief is very easy to accomplish if you apply the appropriate strategy.

Stress Relief strategies are very simple if you were to practice some form of relaxation more often. However, busy business people must first decide what they want in order to experience stress relief.

Let me explain:

Brenda is a first year university student. She is worrying about how she is going to pay back her student loan 5 years from today.

What is it that Brenda wants?

Does Brenda want to finish here second year and then her third year? No! No! No! Brenda is today thinking of finishing her 4th year. The problem with this strategy is that Brenda is focused. This focused energy however, does not allow Brenda to focus for success and enjoy the moment.

Brenda’s story reminds me of Henry another client who wants to buy a house. Henry wants to buy a home for his wife and family. He has qualified for a mortgage. Henry does not want to be in debt and so to be a home owner and have a mortgage creates a very stressful situation for him.

Unless Henry has the cash to pay for the house he will have to take out a mortgage. A mortgagewif as you know comes with a monthly payment. Wait there is more… his wife is bugging him to buy a house. Henry is in double trouble because he really does not know what to do or whom to please.

Henry like Brenda is focusing on what they do not want. Henry does not want to be in debt and Brenda is worrying about paying off her student loan.

One way you can constantly feel overwhelmed is to focus on what you do not want.

Busy business people may take a moment to see if there are focused. If they are focused, are they focused on what they want or what the want to avoid?

So what is the moral of the story?

You cannot focus on avoiding stressful situations in order to experience stress relief.

Secret strategies for Stay at home or working moms to relax and enjoy stress relief so that they can stay focused

Secret strategies for stay at home or working moms to relax and enjoy stress relief so that they can stay focused. These strategies are very simple and allow stay at home or working moms to improve their listening skills.

Stress relief come from listening “in”, however we sometimes tend to listen “out.”

Let me explain.

Listening “out” means you’re minding other people’s business and wanting to help others. Some stay at home or working moms may want to help other people because they think they need help. This perception may be rooted in a particular belief that someone is dumb, stupid or ignorant.

Therefore some (stay at home and working moms) believe that they have the right to educate that person and teach them how to avoid stressful situations.

The truth is, that person may be all or some of those things.

Wait there is more. How often have you been receptive to someone, telling you what to do even if it is in your best interest?

Some people want to learn, but most people are happy in there present circumstance. Change requires effort and the feeling of a degree of uncertainty. For instance I have been teaching Relaxation and Meditation Classes for over 14 years and people always tell me that they need to learn to relax.

I have sent them a brochure or given them info on how to stay focused. I have seen very few of these people at my classes. If I happen to see them after the event then I get all kinds of excuses.

If you do not know the difference between people who want to learn and people who are happy in their present state you could be butting your head against a stone.

How do you indentify people who want to learn?

Generally, people who want to learn or change to a focused state of stress relief act quickly.

Others need to think about it because they have to ask their friends and associates for permission. If they cannot answer all the questions asked by their friends and colleagues about the benefits of getting stress relief, then it feels safer to stay in their present state. This is an example of listening “out”

So what is listening “in” ;

Listening “in” means that as a stay at home or working mom you have chosen to take stress relief classes to help you relax and stay focused and you do not need permission.

Listening “in” is when you are not locking yourself out of the house.

Listening “in” means that you have been practicing listening to your messages and taking action.

Listening “in” means that you are not all stressed out after talking to your friends on the telephone.

Listening “in” means that as a stay at home or working mom that you can find more time to stop and slow down, in spite of the turbulence of daily living.

Listening “in” means that you are going with the flow and not forcing things to happen.

So what is the morale of the story?

When you stay focused on what you want you will enjoy stress relief.

Stressful situations can teach busy business people how to improve your health while welcoming stress as a friend rather than an enemy.

Stressful situations can teach busy business people how to improve your health while welcoming stress as a friend rather than an enemy. Stress can create profound changes in your life which may result in stress relief.

Let me explain:

After my divorce I started teaching Relaxation and Meditation. I was a professional sales person in the corporate world for over 20 years. I managed the stress of work very well considering the color of my skin is black.

However, in my relationship I endured a very stressful situation. The perception in 1976 in Toronto, Canada, was that the idea of selling for any major corporation was not a good idea.

The stressful situation of being successful in the corporate world forced me to be creative in order to survive. Creativity can also produce some health issues if there is no emotional support at home.

I suffered from excruciating back pain as a health consequence of the stress of living. I was forced to find a solution to my health issue because all of the traditional methods such as chiropractic methods, pills and massages did not work.

You see back pain helped me to avoid stressful situations. The health challenge of a stressful back helped me to discover my gift of teaching relaxation and meditation. Consequently, I now understand how to welcome stress as a friend rather than an enemy.

The turning point in the lives of people who have had profound effects on our lives has come from stress.

Permit me to share three examples with you:

1. Christ died on the cross. Think of the stress he endured. Christians are now enjoying the benefits of stress relief because of his stress of suffering.

2. Mahatma Gandhi influenced his people to take the stress of beating from the British soldiers in order to gain the independence and stress relief for the people of India.

In case you are not aware Mahatma Gandhi’s only weapon was the wrap he wore and the attitude of taking the beatings of the British soldiers and not fighting back.

3. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for so many years that when he was finally released from prison his children were all adults. Just imagine the stress of an angry man. This stress however resulted in the transformation of Mandela.

Mandela was able to survive by using the stress of imprisonment as a motivator for greater accomplishments. Mandela became the 11th President of South Africa.

I am wondering if busy business people were to consider for a moment some of the major stressful situations in their lives. Perhaps they may notice how they have influence them to become a better person. Your comments are always welcomed.

Stay at home moms can learn how to stay focused and avoid the health consequences of lack of focus for success so that they can enjoy stress relief.

Stay at home moms can learn how to stay focused and avoid the health consequences of lack of focus for success so that they can enjoy stress relief. This focus is possible through a very simple process of paying attention to your lawn.

Let me explain:

A dry, brown lawn aches for stress relief just like you need air conditioning in sweltering heat. The lawn needs to be nourished by being watered regularly.

Watering regularly allows the soil to become moist so that the water can seep into the soil and provide stress relief to the lawn, rather than the water running off the dry, brown lawn.

As the lawn is watered and cut regularly it begins to experience a gradual relaxing change in color from brown to green. This color change begins the process of focus for success. The grass is brought to life and relieved from stress instead of being limp and motionless. It now starts to relax, move and breathe with the wind.

A program of regular watering and maintenance allows the grass to avoid the health consequences of lack of focus for success. As the grass learns how to relax there is a gradual increase of stress relief to the once dormant looking brown grass. The Lawn is now being transformed into a green, lively, luscious lawn that now has feelings and can share those feelings with stay at home moms as they walk on the grass.

Sometimes stay at home moms may be too busy with life and stop living and enjoying stress relief. They may become like the dry, brown grass which feels totally neglected.

However the grass is at the mercy of its owner. Sometimes the owner maybe busy avoiding stressful situations to water the grass. This means that the grass is not allowed to have better health and experience stress relief.

The question then becomes; Stay at home moms are at whose mercies when they neglect themselves like the dry brown grass?

Stay at home moms can stay focused and experience great health, stress relief and wonderful color in their lives, whenever they find more time to stop and nourish their dry brown lawn.

Busy Business people can dress for stress relief and stay focused although the weather may create a challege.

Busy Business people can dress for stress relief and stay focused although the weather may create a challenge. Stress relief comes from being prepared.

What does that mean for you?

A young lady Monica attended a funeral and was dressed for stress relief in her “show” shoes. After the funeral service was over, she wanted to go the burial ground. However, it had rained during the time of the funeral service and the grass and the roads were soaking wet.

Monica got caught up in the stressful situation because she was wearing her expensive stockings and “show” shoes and stay focused on not getting her feet wet.

Another young lady Harriette also wore her expensive stockings and “show” shoes but she came prepared to stay focused, enjoy stress relief and relax in any kind of weather.

You see, Harriette was so prepared to stay focused that she had another pair of shoes for walking on a rainy day or any kind of weather.

But wait there is more…

Harriette had a third pair of shoes that were comfortable. This pair of shoes allowed her to relax and focus, after she took off her “show” shoes.

So, Harriette was smiling from ear to ear because she had three pairs of shoes and was very relaxed and focused on avoiding any stressful situation.

So let’s review the situation; Harriette was dressed for stress relief in her “show” shoes in the church. She noticed the change in the weather and to avoid any stressful situation she put on her all weather shoes. After the burial service Harriette returned to the reception hall in her comfortable shoes all relaxed.

Harriette because of her preparation was able to avoid all the stressful situations of the day. Mary on the other hand was uncomfortable and enjoyed stress relief by not going to the burial ground.

So what is the moral of the story?

If you live your life unprepared like Mary then you will not be able to stay focused. However If you are prepared like Harriette then you will be able to relax and improve your health by enjoying stress relief under any circumstance.

Life rewards prepared busy business people so that they can relax and focus for success.

Stress Relief: Relax and improve your health by staying focused.

Stress Relief can help you relax and improve your health by staying focused. My friend Sue was telling me how she experienced stress relief from her neighbor.

You see, Sue lives in a complex of town houses on a corner lot. She has had air conditioning for a while to help her relax, stay focused and have a good night’s sleep. In her house the basement and the main floor are cool.

The upstairs, however, created a stressful situation because it was always hot and difficult to relax.

It was so hot that it was necessary for Sue to put on a fan in order to get the stress relief of a good night’s sleep. Sue’s neighbor just installed central air conditioning and now her upstairs is nice and cool and she can relax and no longer needs to put on the fan in order to get stress relief from the heat.

So it would appear that Sue’s neighbor was getting some stress relief from Sue’s air conditioning. Sue suffered for a while from the heat but now that her neighbor has air conditioning she can really enjoy a good night’s sleep.

So what is the moral of the story?

My grandfather told me that stressful situations always even themselves out. We may be unhappy with the immobilizing challenges that we encounter in our daily lives. However, if we continue to function in spite of circumstances eventually we will experience stress relief from our neighbor.

Stress Relief: Busy business people and working moms can avoid stressful situations in their relationships by finding the root cause of the problem.

Stress Relief: Busy business people and working moms can avoid stressful situations in their relationships by finding the root cause of the problem.

Let me explain;

Elizabeth had an upset in her relationship. Like some busy business people and working moms she avoided confrontation by not calling her partner for 10 days. After 10 days with my facilitation, she was able to make the phone call to her partner.

The phone call allowed her to experience some stress relief. So the question that may be asked is; “what has this got to do with her weight problem?”

Elizabeth had been avoiding stressful situations for many years and she continued to avoid them until this behavior ended up with health consequences. Her doctor finally told her she had to lose some weight.

Elizabeth like many of my clients have been avoiding stressful situations because they claim they cannot find more time to stay focused on their health.

Interestingly enough some busy business people and working moms admit to me, in my private practice, that they are aware that they are avoiding stressful situations. They also acknowledge that nobody has challenged them before. Not only that, the resulting health issue (weight problems) gives them a kick in the butt and then they may rush to find a program to help them with their weight problem or not.

One more thing about avoiding stressful situations – it’s important;

Elizabeth was caught in a habit of avoiding stressful situations. This behavior of avoiding stressful situations allowed her to avoid stress and to relax by ignoring the situation. This avoidance behavior which provided some benefit of relaxation and stress relief had serious health consequences.

This health issues for Elizabeth resulted in binge eating, irritability, impatience and lack of self confidence.

Sooner or later Elizabeth had to deal with the root cause of her problem. This experience allowed her to understand her pattern of behavior.

Elizabeth now understands that she ran away to avoid stressful situations, which made her relax (finding whatever substitute made her feel better) rather than face the stressful situation.

Weight problems tend to follow a similar pattern; when an embarrassing incident occurs in our lives we tend to ignore it. Ignoring it, somehow hoping it will go away. We may distort the situation and pretending it never happen; however, every now and then this memory rears its ugly head.

Here are three reasons why busy business people and working moms must take action about their weight problems.

Reason # one:

Eventually, some busy business people and working moms may reach a point when this avoidance behavior is no longer relaxing and they begin to feel very uncomfortable and powerless.

Reason # Two;

They can no longer hide from their weight problems because of the physical discomfort of their clothes fitting too tightly.

Reason # Three;

They feel fat ugly and worthless and no longer enjoy the stress relief of taking care of themselves.

Finally, avoiding stressful situations is only a bandage like weight problems. Once busy business people and working moms can understand the root cause of their problem and get the appropriate help, it becomes very easy for them to see their beauty within. These insights will allow them to notice the experience of staying focused, finding more time to enjoy the small joys of nature and becoming more aware of the positive things they are saying about themselves.

Working Moms and Parents can stay focused and enjoy Stress Relief by Listening to their children

Working Moms and parents can stay focused and enjoy Stress Relief by Listening to their children because; children need to perceive their parents are someone who will listen to them so that they can feel relaxed. This results in stress relief for, working moms, parents and children.

Children give us hints in many ways. Some two year olds throw temper tantrums because they perceive that no one is listening. I guess working moms and parents are generally too busy and stressed out to listen.

A friend told me about a young working mom who had a young child. When the young working mom came home from work she would rush to the bathroom, but she would forget to change her son’s diaper. Consequently the young child was only expressing it’s feelings of discomfort by kicking up a fuss through actions of screaming and shouting in order to get attention (stress relief).

As young children get older they may ask questions and as working moms and parents you may hear but not answer. Children need to be acknowledged so that they have the feeling that they have been listen to. Otherwise they will continue to seek an avenue that helps them to relax and focus.

When children stay focused it is like the period at the end of a sentence. If you have a very long paragraph with no periods, then you have a long run-on sentence. This sentence makes it very difficult to relax and focus when reading and hence no stress relief.

When my children were younger I had 3 rules for listening and stress relief.

Rule # 1, is that if I did not answer their questions, they had permission to remind me that I gave them permission to ask me questions.

The problem is that some questions ask of working moms and parents are difficult to answer because we were never really trained to be parents.

Rule # 2, when ever I was asked a question by my children which I could not answer I would tell my children that I would l think about it and get back to them by a specific date. This technique gave me some breathing room and helped me to stay focused.

Rule # 3, one of my children told me to tell her “maybe” if I did not have any answer to her question. She explained that “maybe” allowed to relax and focus and gave her hope that she would get what she wanted.

Working moms and parents need to practice listening to their children so that children feel as though someone cares. It helps them “empty” their thought and feelings in a safe place rather than letting them bottling up and exploding like fire crackers.

If children feel that they are not listened too, then their behavior can become relax and focused towards getting the necessary stress relief at any cost.

You may hear what your children have said but you may be too busy doing other things for example, watching television. Although as working moms and parents you can repeat everything that they have said they (children) may have a perception that you are not listening. Remember whatever perception they have of you as a working mom or parent is correct.

This perception can easily be corrected by finding more time to stop and look your children in the eye when talking to them. Now you children will no longer feel as though you are always too busy to find more time for them.

In conclusion: Children only need to be acknowledged. When they feel that working moms and parents actually find more time to look them in the eye and listen to them, then they can relax and focus on having fun rather than creating havoc in order to get attention.

Busy business people and working moms can enjoy balance.

Busy business people and working moms can enjoy balance so that they can stay focused. Work life balance is not always easy to accomplish because of the speed of change. Work life balance is like a set of scales. If busy business people and working moms allow one of their scales to weight more than the other, then there is stress and an imbalance.

If busy business people and working moms cannot find more time to deal with the pressures of change, then they deprive themselves of rest due to lack of sleep. This behavior disrupts their work life balance by tipping the scales out of balance.

Balance is like a buffet table. Let’s say you go to a buffet table and all your favourite foods are there. Go for the steak instead of eating the whole cow which can create stress, irritability and constipation.

The moral of the story is to relax and take one step at a time.

This behavior will allow you to relax and maintain your work life balance and enjoy stress relief in this chaotic world.

ABOUT THE STRESS RELIEF BLOG

Stress Relief Blog was founded by Cecil McIntosh of Emptyyourcup.com. He is the EYC™ Stress Relaxation Expert who has been teaching the secret strategies for busy business people and working moms to stay focused, get more done and find more time. And interestingly enough he does it all from the suburbs of Mississauga Canada.

Background/history

Cecil was born and raised in St. Michael, Barbados. His parents immigrated to England in 60’s and he was cared for by his grand parents and the extended family of his community. His family was finally reunited in 1970 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where he has spent the last 36 years.

Health Issue

After a successful career in sales he began to experience health issues like excruciating back pain. After struggling with traditional methods like the doctor and chiropractor, he discovered how to heal his back pain from practicing Relaxation and Meditation.

The stress relief of no longer having back pain resulted in the end of his sales career and marriage. It was also the beginning of a deep transformation which was his calling. This experience which started 14 years ago heralds a new approach to living in the moment and the Empty Your Cup® Process.
