Spiritual Relaxation: Is it the Secret code for Anxiety and Stress?

Spiritual RelaxationIf I were to ask you, “How do you relax”, what will you tell me?

You may tell me that you relax when you go home and you are with your family.

Or when you go to the gym and work out.

Perhaps you may say that you relax when you go to Yoga classes.

The lists of WAYS you think you are relaxing goes on and on and on.

Interestingly enough, we are always going SOMEWHERE to find SOMETHING.

So what would happen if I told you to do one the following three things?

  • TAKE AWAY your special time with your family.
  •  CANEL your gym membership.
  •  You are not ALLOWED to practice yoga.

You get the picture.

Let’s look at your three possible responses to having these restrictions.

  •  Physically, you will probably tighten up and stop breathing.
  • Mentally, your negative thoughts may become so profound that you will probably feel like screaming.
  • Emotionally, you may end up in the doctor’s office, and as a result, you’ll begin taking prescription drugs and/or resort to consuming excessive amounts of coffee as a way of dealing with your uncomfortable feelings.

OK, Spiritual relaxation to the rescue.

To me, spiritual relaxation means to be able to be in the moment and enjoy what is going on.

YOU do not need to go ANYWHERE to do ANYTHING.

Listen I’m not kidding around…

You don’t believe me?

I thought so.

That’s fair.

Let me show you how dead serious I am…

After teaching this process for over 14 years, my students initially find this concept foreign, but soon they discovered that it is the most effective, natural way to relax.

So here’s what else is in store for you…

An introduction to a profound change in your consciousness.

Up until now, you have probably done it occassionally but here’s the most important part…

You do not have to wait until you go away on holiday. You’ll be glad to know you can start right now.

So remember, this process is very simple and you’re going to love it or not. It is called Spiritual Relaxation.

What is Spiritual Relaxation?

It is being in the moment and not having to go anywhere to relax. No longer do you have to wait until you go on vacation to relax or take a break.

Where ever you are is OK, at the moment. There is no need to have to go to the gym, to go to Yoga, to go home to be with the family.

We can relax right where we are.

You may wonder why you have been looking for anxety and stress relief but unable to find it.

Let’s face it, all you have to do is stop multitasking.

I am not kidding. You have  been told that when you multitask you get more done. RIGHT.

SORRY, You have been misinformed.

This example of Spiritual Relaxation is going to surprise you.

The next time you have a cup of coffee, I want you to have it in a different location.

If you’re a business entrepreneur who works from home, I want you to have your coffee in another room in your house outside of your home office.

While you drink your coffee, please, do not read the paper, use your phone, watch TV or listen to the radio.

Just be with your coffee. It’s not as easy as it sounds.

That’s my example of spiritual relaxation.

Your feed back is always welcomed. So give us a shout and tell us what you think.

Stress relief from Depression: Rage Turned Inward

Chances are, if you’re depressed you’re also angry. Even enraged. Maybe you’re angry at a distance spouse, an unreasonable boss or just the world in general. When anger has no place to go, i.e. you can’t vent at your boss (if you want to keep your job), it turns inward and, as it accumulates, it becomes depression.

Is it easier to deal with rage than depression?

It’s much easier to deal with anger than it is with depression. By the time you reach a state of depression, damage to your psychic well-being has already been done. Anger can be resolved quickly, without psycho-therapy, potentially addictive medications
(many Prozac users call themselves ‘lifers’) and a lot of money down the drain. The key is to recognize the anger, what sets it off and how to release it – let it go so that it doesn’t turn toxic and cloud your whole day – or your whole life.

Where can you find help for Anger Management?

There are tons of books on the subject. Lots of seminars, court-ordered classes and people caught in jobs or family situations that are just one sarcastic comment away from going ballistic – and perhaps hurting others.

The kids who are shooting their classmates are angry – angry at the bullying and the social isolation, angry that their lives aren’t like the lives of kids they see on the TV. They feel cheated and lied to, which leads to anger that doesn’t have an outlet. So, these
kids and their depressed friends and family members continue to suppress anger until it becomes a full-blown, sometimes-debilitating condition.

But it’s not just kids who are going ballistic. Check out these numbers to see if you, or a family member or friend, fit into one of these categories:

18.8 million Americans are affected by bipolar disorder (unexplained emotional highs and lows), dysthymic disorder (inappropriate reactions to routine, daily activities like getting stuck in a traffic jam) and depression (loss of focus, desire, libido, energy – the individual becomes a dried up husk of a human being leading a joyless life). Sound like you? If so, you’re not alone.

Get this: the largest population segment using psychotropic medications are pre-schoolers! That should send a shiver down your spine.

More than half of survey respondents believe that depression is simply a personal weakness. (You’ll snap out of it).

15% of depressed individuals will commit suicide - the final act of desperation and an avoidable, treatable condition.

Depression limits your ability to make even simple functional decisions – like what to have for dinner. It’s no way to live.

Can you learn to live with Anger?

The person who cuts you off on the way to work gets you angry. But he’s gone and in a few minutes the incident will be forgotten. Routinely, anger dissipates over time for most people.

However, those with a “short fuse’ create problems for themselves and those around them. Usually, these quick-to-anger individuals have family problems, they have difficulty keeping a job and building a career and, in many cases, they don’t have any social network
- support for coping with anger.

Would you like 10 anger Management Tips?

1. Recognize the triggers that set you off and avoid them whenever possible. If your mother-in-law angers you, avoid her (except at holidays and special occasions). You don’t have a responsibility to like everyone and everyone won’t like you.

2. Create a dialog with the individual that is causing anger. It should be a discussion to come to terms, not a shouting match in the office hallway.

3. Find a recreational outlet. Physical activity is always a good way to let anger flow from the body but any hobby that takes your mind off the anger is helpful in combating the more serious problem of depression.

4. Build a support network. There is any number of clubs and associations that will welcome you just as you are.

5. Do good works. Help a stranger. Help a friend. Provide comfort to a relative. Doing good counteracts the effects of the anger collected that day. It just makes you feel good.

6. Don’t self-medicate with alcohol or drugs. These mask the problem but don’t solve it. You want to develop a clear view of your situation and mind-altering substances are simply counter-productive.

7. Join an anger management group. If you’re unable to control your anger in routine situations, there are free anger management classes in many communities. You don’t have to go off the deep end before seeking treatment. In fact, going proactive is a
positive step in the right direction. You’ll feel better just taking that step.

8. Meditate, or just sit quietly for 20 minutes a day. Take the phone off the hook, close the door, get into a comfortable position, close your eyes and drift away. Do NOT fume about the things that are making you angry.

9. Eat a healthy diet. If you’re living on chips and beer, no wonder you’re depressed. Eat better, feel better.

10. Find something in which to believe. It doesn’t have to be a religion. It can be a community group or a personal growth project. Discover something you can really put your heart in to.

Final Thoughts

Finally, contact a professional in anger management. A few sessions on clearing negative thoughts and building in “me” time each day will do wonders for the anger you feel. And as the anger slowly ebbs, the depression and the associated symptoms will decrease as well.

So, if you’re depressed chronically, just remember, there are many things you can do to address the underlying anger that’s the cause of your depression.

Depression is rage turned inward. Who or what are you angry with? That’s a good starting point for a happier, more productive life.

Lastly, learn to let it go. Anger is corrosive, eating away at your happiness. Learning to find healthy release valves for your anger will make life better for you and those important people in your life.

Stress Relief and Negative thoughts

Stress Relief and Negative thoughts may result in more stress.

Let me explain.

Mary was having difficulty communicating with her partner. One day Mary’s partner accused her of being very negative and she burst into a rage of uncontrollable anger for over a week. After being upset for a week, Mary asked me to assist her with her challenge.

In exploring the root cause of the problem, Mary discovered that she was in fact negative, she used the word ‘can’t’ and “have to” very often.

What problem can you create by using the word can’t?

Her partner was a business man who sought Mary’s advice on business matters. Mary’s advice was usually very negative. This caused her partner to be disturbed. He was confused because the word ‘can’t’ never exist in his belief system.

You see, Mary only understood making money from a salaried job. To be an entrepreneur to her was too risky. Her perception of self employed was too many long hours for very little money.

What lessons did Mary learn from this experience? Mary discovered three lessons.

1. Mary acknowledged she was not aware of her belief system and how it affected her partner.

2. Mary also admitted that her thoughts were all over the place. She had difficulty focusing and sleeping at night.

3. Mary now realized that she needs to find new tools or perspective on staying focused and sleeping at night because of her negative thoughts.

So what is the moral of the story?

Blowing up into burst of anger on a regular basis is not very healthy and it will cost you when you calm down. 1f you want to stay focused more often then you need to change you behavior.

Can you get stress relief out of frustration?

Can you get stress relief out of frustration? Perhaps! Maybe!

Let me explain

Can you recall a time when you got the run around for so long that you got pissed off? Imagined being sent from department to department and nobody could make a decision. Eventually I met a young lady name Sue.

Sue had no business card or title but understood my frustration. You see Sue was experiencing a similar stressful situation. She was annoyed and feeling stressed because her ability to provide excellent customer service was hampered.

Sue was responsible for orientating the customers. However the marketing department also did an orientation and in some cases did not inform Sue. Consequently the guest received conflicting information.

Sue was therefore irritated because of lack of communication between the different departments. So what was the problem? The head (BOSS) of all the marking departments was on holiday.

While the boss was away all the departments heads were afraid to take responsibility for making a decision. Decisions meant that the clients were sent in another direction (another department) so as to avoid making a decision. Sue suggested that I go get a suntan and call the head (BOSS) of the marketing department in four days when she returns from holiday.

So what is the more of the story?

If you are seeking help or information and you discover that no one can help. Keep asking the next person in charge at a higher level. Sooner or later you will enjoy a warm feeling of accomplishment.
