Manicure and pedicure gets you stress relief. What’s your opinion?

Let me explain

My wife took me to get stress relief from a manicure and pedicure on this beautiful summer’s day. I always look forward to these visits with anticipation of what I will learn about stress relief. Observing people in the spa or salon is always an amazing experience for me.

The first thing I noticed is that two ladies paid for their services before they had the manicure. After probing a little bit I discovered that these ladies did not want to get their nails smudge after the manicure. I also discovered that they were small fans available to dry your nails.

However, some clients were in a hurry so they could not wait a few moments for their nails to dry. Some clients rush to prepay because they could not wait for their nails to dry naturally. So the question is when do you relax when you go to have a pedicure and a manicure?

It would appear that you relax when you are physically held by the hand for a manicure and the feet for a pedicure. It is that tiny moment that you relax and enjoy stress relief. O what a wonderful moment.

The other question is what is your purpose for having a manicure and pedicure? Is it to attend a special function? Is it to go away on holiday?

Maybe it is just for the chance to pamper your self. So are you getting a manicure and pedicure for yourself or to be noticed by others? Then when you are finished there is the stress of navigating opening the door with wet nails.

There is another challenge if you choose to stay and allow your nails to dry. How do you handle all those thought that are rushing thought your head? These thoughts are about all the things that need to be done while you are wasting precious time sitting in a chair drying your nails.

So what is the moral of the story?

There are many myths about relaxation. The biggest myth is that we need to allow other people to help us relax. This myth has some value because we are generally too busy to stop and get the tools which allow us to take a break by ourselves and be able to relax anywhere, anytime.

Baby boomers and moms can enjoy stress relief by being perfect in an imperfect world.

Let me explain

I experienced profound stress relief on Thursday Jan12, 2006, when I gave my first teleseminar. The topic was “Get answers to your 12 most important questions about overwhelm.” When you are presenting a new project there are a lot of things that can go wrong.

For example I thought I understood how to use the different codes on the phone for conducting the teleseminar. When the call began it was like walking and chewing gum at the same time. While I was doing my presentation (walking), I very quickly discovered that I did not know or was not familiar with how to mute out the noises and how to open and close the line (chewing gum).

This experience is very important because sometimes you may feel that you are not ready to handle a new situation. This awareness should also remind you that you are not perfect if you were ever considering such thoughts.

In my case I did the best I could under the circumstances, knowing that this was only the beginning of my experience with presenting teleseminars. Stress relief for me was experiencing a new beginning. Interestingly enough I got emails after the call congratulating me on the call.

Here is one comment, “Just want to let you know that I really enjoyed your teleseminar last night. Sorry if I was noisy; I was calling from a supermarket at that time, but I’m really glad I did. You were really great and I would call in again. I was taking notes and I really felt like I learned a lot. It’s a great tool!” R .P.

So what is the moral of the story?

It is difficult to grow by standing still. You need to move out of your comfort zone and use the feedback from what you did right or wrong to help you grow and expand.

Overworked, Stressed-Out Moms: Help Is Finally Here. Stressful situations will always exist. Most moms experience a time during the day when they are most stressed and almost overwhelmed by the activities going on around them. Some may feel this way in the morning.

Others experience these feelings in the afternoon or evening. These feelings occur when mothers are over-exposed to the stimuli of children, family, work and other potential stressors in their lives.

Let me explain:

Each woman’s body chemistry is different. What may cause one woman to feel stressed or overwhelmed may not affect her neighbor or best friend in the same way? Stress can occur at specific times during the day for some people, almost to the point that it can be predicted.

Getting the kids ready for school or rushing home in between errands to cook supper are two common stress points during a mother’s day. For some moms, these feelings may just appear with no identifiable cause.

Why does this happen?

Usually, stress and/or anxiety are brought on by internal and external factors in a mother’s life. These factors do not go away unless they are addressed. Most of the time they cannot be avoided. Life doesn’t stop because mom is a bit overwhelmed. We cannot avoid some of the factors that contribute to our
stress, i.e., work, children, home, etc.

A helpful tip:

We should not fall prey to these feelings of helplessness. We need to confront them head on. For those stressful times during the day, a plan should be implemented. This is a key element that can be followed by mothers and the children at these times.

An organized approach to stress provides consistency and continuity. You know what to expect if you follow the plan. It may not totally remove the anxiety and stress from life, but it will certainly diminish the feelings because a structured plan puts you in control.

So what is the moral of the story?

Having a plan - the coping skills - to manage stressful, anxious times will ease the burden. By using this organized approach, you’ll notice a difference in the amount of stress in your life and how you cope with the feelings. It isn’t always easy, but the more you put these practices in place, the more natural they become.

MOTHER’S DAY: Thanks, Mom! A Day of Remembrance for celebrating the beginning of life. So what is Mother’s day? What does it mean to you?

It’s a very special day on which we honor mothers everywhere, from grandmothers and aunts, to sisters and friends. It’s a day when we contemplate all of the many things that our mothers have done for us.

The earliest Mother’s Day celebrations can be traced back to the spring celebrations of ancient Greece, held to honor Rhea, the Mother of the Gods.

Another theory claims this day emerged from the custom of mother worship in ancient Greece. During the 1600’s, England celebrated a day called “Mothering Sunday.” Celebrated on the 4th Sunday of Lent, Mothering Sunday honored the mothers of England. In the UK today, people celebrate motherhood and thanks mothers just for being “moms.”

In the United States, Mother’s Day was adopted from England by social activist Julia Ward Howe after the American Civil War. Ms. Howe intended the day to be a call to unite women against war. She wrote the Mother’s Day
Proclamation.

People in different countries celebrate Mother’s Day at different times of the year because the celebration has so many different origins. So, what does Mother’s Day mean to a mom, then? To moms everywhere, Mother’s Day is a day to reflect upon all of the joys that her children and family have brought into her life.

It is a day when moms relax and let others take over, something that may be difficult for some moms to do. On this special day of the year, we honor our mothers and what they’ve done for us. Mother’s Day is also a
popular day for the family to dine out, relax and connect once again.

In this fast-forward world, we never seem to have the time to truly connect with loved ones. This is one of those opportunities. Mother’s Day is a day when mom chooses her activities. She may select a nice dinner, a family trip or simply choose to work in her garden - the place that brings her inner peace.

On Mother’s Day, we all put mom’s needs first. Moms do so much for us that it’s sometimes hard to acknowledge this in a single day. They are the ones who brought us into this world, and the ones who watch over us, even today when we have children of our own.

Once you’re a mother, you’re always a mother. Those needs to nurture and protect don’t go away simply because you’ve grown older. Mothers seem to know when we need them, whether to talk, or cry, or share an accomplishment. It’s a sixth sense that moms are born with.

A mom never stops worrying about her child. When a child is born, a transformation takes place. The new mother will never be the same.

There is no one else like her. How do you say thank you for all of that? I believe being a mom is the greatest gift in the world.

Children bring the greatest joy and satisfaction into our lives. It is immeasurable. Mother’s Day continues to be celebrated all around the world.

That’s why.

89 year old great grand mother have guilty feelings

What would cause an 89 year old great grand mother to have guilty feelings?

Let me explain.

Mary celebrated her 89th birthday and enjoys profound stress relief. Although Mary was having fun she had a concern. I met Mary about a year ago at a coffee shop.

I stopped at the local coffee shop to get a hot chocolate before visiting my Mom. My Mom is in a nursing home. Mary and I developed a relationship.

What is fascinating about our relationship is that I do not know when I will meet Mary at the coffee shop. I do not have a specific day to visit my Mom. Mary does not go the coffee shop each day.

On her 89th birthday the owners of the donut shop gave Mary 6 red roses. Also a cake with one candle and the staff sang her happy birthday. Mary also received other unexpected gifts.

Mary was concerned because she wondered if she was given this attention out of pity. With some facilitation on my part Mary changed her perspective. She told me that she now understands that she had given all her life but never really wanted to receive.

She also confessed that she did not think that she deserved to receive. This change in her thinking now allows Mary to receive without feeling guilty.

So what is the moral of the story?

You may be OK with giving which is an admirable quality however it is also important for you to receive without feeling guilty. You need to maintain a balance in your life of giving and receiving.
