Healthy Eating Habit - BreakfastIn my many years of facilitating entrepreneurs and solopreneurs who would like to have lots of energy and enjoy work life balance they seem to skip over a very important step which threatens their health.
 
It saddens me when they realized that there is an in balance in their lives which saps their energy and drastically reduces their productivity.
 
The good news is that life does not have to be this difficult. And it does not cost you lots of money.
I am going to reveal the missing short cut to a healthy eating habit.

Wayne: Stress causes you to eat the wrong foods. Why is that a myth?

Cecil: It’s a myth because most people I’ve talked to seem to skip a meal. This is from my personal experience. The meal they seem to skip is breakfast.

What happens when they skip breakfast is they somehow want to catch up at lunch. When they come home for dinner, because they missed breakfast, they want to have breakfast and then have dinner.

That’s the pattern I’ve noticed. They skip a meal, but still need to get that meal in somewhere along the line. They come home and have breakfast at suppertime. After suppertime breakfast, they tend to want to have supper.

When you miss a meal, what I find is that you eat whatever is there to fill that void.

Our system needs to refuel and be nourished. If the system isn’t nourished, it’s going to scream at you. When it screams at you, you have to put something in there because you didn’t have a plan, didn’t have directions and haven’t decided what you want.

You are going to have to put something into your system. The first thing that’s available, you’re going to put in, whether you like it or not.

“Stress causes me to eat the wrong food,” is not the myth. The myth is, “We are not eating properly.” Then we get hungry wherever we are.

It hurts my heart to see hard working entrepreneurs and solopreneurs lose their drive and passion because they ignore this healthy eating habit. So I hope you will take the priceless short cuts you discovered in the last few minutes to avoid this misfortune.

Does stress cause you not to exercise when your mind is already clouded with so many things you have to do to keep your business running?
 
It gets even more confusing when all the answers you get only makes you feel more frustrated.
Well, it’s time to put all this tension behind you, because I am about to reveal the secret that will put this puzzling question to bed once and for all. And it doesn’t involve spending a penny or having to work any harder.

Cecil: When we’re stressed out, we may blame the stress for lack of exercising. But the reality is that we need to have a purpose in life.You need to decide what you want. This is the challenge that most of us have. It doesn’t matter where you are in life. You need to know what you want. The most important thing is to accept yourself at the moment where you are.

Let’s assume you’re overweight, for example. You need to accept that. The challenge is to accept that you’re overweight. “Stress causes you to avoid exercising,” is not really the issue here.

The issue is that you haven’t accepted where you are. You have to accept, “This is where I am right now.”

Let’s assume you are going on a holiday. You phone the travel agency and say, “I want to go on holiday.” The travel agent says, “Fine. Where do you want to go?”

Let’s say you want to go to Barbados. The travel agent needs to know where you are at the moment in order to book the flight. They can’t get you there if they don’t know where you are starting from.

It’s the same thing with avoiding exercise. You need to know where you are right now. If you’re overweight, you’re overweight.

So what?

Knowing where you are makes it easy for you to take the steps that are necessary to do what you want to do.

If you go into denial and decide, “I am not overweight. There’s nothing wrong with me,” that is where the problem is. Nobody can help you because you decided there is nothing wrong with you.

So take a deep breath. This is very important: Exercising or not, is not the solution to your purpose in life. Stress does not stop you from exercising. If having a purpose in life is not easy and productive why do it at all? Simply follow the step outlined above and you will soon discover that you are on your way to applying purpose of life to your daily schedule.

Serious Health Problems not an issue hereWayne: Stress creates health problems. That is so true. Isn’t it, Cecil?
 
Cecil: Yes, it is. It’s especially true for busy business people, baby boomers and moms. The issue is that we are busy. When we’re busy, we forsake everything. That is one problem. We’ve been taught to look after other people before we look after ourselves.
 
For us to be selfish and do something for ourselves goes against everything we have been taught. Along with doing things for ourselves and looking after our health is the emotion and issue of feeling guilty.
 
You need to look after your partner. You need to look after your children. You need to look after the boss. You need to look after everybody. Who comes last? You come last because you’re too busy looking after everybody.

The sad thing about looking after everybody else is that you know what everybody wants specifically. You attempt to satisfy them.

For example, if you’re a wife, you need to cook four to five different meals to satisfy the family or do things four or five different ways.

When doing that, you seldom do things for yourself.

Whatever they ask you to do, you do it. You don’t do it for yourself. You’re too busy, “I don’t have time to do what I want for myself. I should do it for others.”

I find that a lot of parents do everything for their children. If you don’t believe what I’m saying, ask that child to take out the garbage and see what they say to you.

The child will say, “Take out the garbage?”

What’s frustrating is you say, “I’ve done everything for this child. I’ve done everything for this person. I ask them to do one simple thing for me and they ignore me.”

We become suckers when we do everything for everybody else. Everybody knows, “He’ll do it,” or “She’ll do it. I won’t worry about it. They’ll take care of everything.”

The person who does it gets a lot of pleasure from being noticed. They’re noticed for doing things for other people. What happens as a consequence is that particular person forgets to do things for themselves.

They get this satisfaction and adulation from other people. For them to do things for themselves is an issue.

For example, one of my clients went to the hair dresser and had her hair tinted. She went back home and nobody noticed that she had her hair done. She was mad. “Mad” is mildly put.

She said, “Cecil, nobody noticed me.”
I said, “What do you mean, ‘noticed you’?”
She said, “I had my hair done.
I said, “So? Who did you get your hair done for?”
She said, “I did it so others would complement me.”
I said, “You can’t get your hair done for others.
You have to get your hair done for you.
Who cares what other people think?”

Unfortunately, this society is a lot about what people think about you. I totally disagree with it, but that’s the way we think we have to behave.

The interesting thing about being healthy is the fantastic energy and exuberance you have. The challenge is, without proper instruction you can waste this priceless asset leaving you feeling disappointed, frustrated and overpowered with nothing to show for your effort.

I hope you now understand how and why you satisfy others rather than self. Through these points, you can change your perspective and have more energy and more fun enjoying life. And this would definitely amaze you!
