Health and Fitness: Can You Have One Without the Other?

Couple enjoying health and fitnessHealth and fitness are partners in living a happy and fulfilling life. It is nearly impossible to enjoy your life to the fullest without being healthy. Part of being healthy is being physically fit.

Your quality of life will decrease if you are obese, abusing drugs or alcohol, or not getting the rest your body needs.

We want the best quality of life that is possible. A good health and a fitness program will help us have that.

What is the most overlooked key to health and fitness?

One of the most important and most overlooked keys to good health is starting your day with breakfast. Your body has gone without food for the night as you slept. You need to fill up your tank before you start the day.

This has several benefits; the most important being it jump-starts your metabolism and helps you burn fat.

Here are some good choices for breakfast…

Good choices for breakfast include whole grain cereals, yogurt and fruit, and whole grain toast with peanut butter. You will notice that foods with refined sugars are not included in what is considered a healthy breakfast!

Ok, I understand I need to have a healthy breakfast. How do I make physical activity  a part of my day?

How can you make physical activity a part of your day?

Stay active during your day. You can make time for physical activity even if you are holding down a job or spending six hours in class. Try to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise each day.

OK, let’s look at some simple ways to stay active.

There are simple ways to get in physical activities. Use stairs instead of an elevator and park farther out in the parking lot and walk those few extra steps. Take a break every hour when you get up and get your body moving.

We love to hear your comments. So go ahead and tell us what you think.

Health and Fitness: Two Tips, Rest and Exercise a great tonic for Stress and Anxiety…

Exercise for stess reliefWhat else can we do to relieve stress and anxiety? Get the proper amount of rest. While you are sleeping your body is making repairs and balancing all parts of your body.

Your brain and heart is resting and preparing for the next day. Your brain is the part of the body that is the most closely related to stress. Without the proper amount of rest, it does not handle stress and anxiety the way it was designed to.

OK, how much rest do we really need for stress relief?

What is the proper amount of rest? Each of us has an internal clock that lets us know when we are getting the right amount of rest. Some may be comfortable getting five or six hours of rest each night, others may not feel up to par if they don’t get eight to ten hours.

Your body knows how much rest it needs, listen to your internal clock. This leads to the question of exercise.

Is exercise good for stress and anxiety?

Many of us do not like to hear about this stress reliever. It is exercise. Yes, physical activity will help relieve feelings of stress and anxiety!

What if you don’t like to exercise?

There are many ways of getting the physical activity that your body needs. Pick an activity that you enjoy and take part in that activity five days a week.

Dancing is enjoyable to many people, and it is great exercise. Take your pet for a walk, enjoy the nature in your local park, or get on that bike that has been stored in your garage!

Do I need to check with my doctor to see if I am physically fit?

If you are starting an exercise program for the first time, check with your doctor to be sure you can physically take part in your choice of exercise. Remember, even a small amount of physical activity is better than none at all. Start slow and add speed and more activities are you are comfortable with them.

So, here’s the secret:

Relieving stress and anxiety can be done with just a few changes in your lifestyle. Try it! You will feel better and be able to handle any stressors that appear in your life.

Prescription Drug Overdose Good for the Stress of Pain…

Prescription Drug OverdoseMichael Jackson the pop icon passed away on June 25, 2009. It has been speculated that the pop genius, who is famous for his creative spirit and the many musical barriers he broke, died from a prescription drug overdose.
OK let me explain these allegations:

This speculation was supported by Deepak Chopra on the Larry King show, where he claimed that Michael requested his assistance in learning how to meditate. On one occasion, Michael asked Dr. Chopra for a prescription of a drug.

Dr. Chopra said that he asked Michael why he wanted the prescription, but apparently Chopra never got an answer. Consequently, Michael stopped returning his phone calls.

Here’s another well known example of the deadly use of prescription drugs.

Jackson’s death would appear to be somewhat similar to the 2007 death of former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith. Smith died of an accidental overdose in a Florida hotel. An autopsy revealed that Smith had a lethal cocktail of several prescription drugs in her body at the time of death.

So are prescription drugs the only way to manage the stress of pain?

I have been teaching relaxation and meditation for over 14 years, specifically for emotional and physical pain. As a matter of fact, I have worked with terminally ill patients in hospitals teaching them how to manage pain.

The interesting thing is that most of the patients that I am assigned to (due to chronic pain),refuse my help. Usually the patients who are not in as much pain are more receptive to my help.

Is there a non- prescription drug solution for pain?

I have developed a 3-minute relaxation process that allows you to manage and at times, eliminate chronic pain. There is an easier way to manage pain and enjoy a better quality of life.

Are you looking for a quick fix?

We have been conditioned to take a pill as a quick fix to numb the pain and our senses. This process keeps us dependent on that pill and it prevents us from taking responsibility.

Here’s the simple truth.

Pain is merely a message indicating that the body is out of balance. If you get to the root cause of the pain and deal with it naturally through relaxation and mediation, you do not become dependent on prescription drugs.

The final cause of Michael Jackson’s death has not been officially determined; however the question that needs to be answered is this:

Do you medicate your pain with prescription drugs or have you found a natural, alternative way to deal with your emotional and/or chronic physical pain?
