How do you get Stress relief and peace within yourself?

How do you get stress relief and peace within yourself? You see, the solution maybe easier than you think. We’ve all met those who remain calm in the midst of chaos.

Often, they’re our leaders - our managers, presidents, prime ministers and other men and women who remain calm under pressure. And this is true of many human beings. Many everyday people are able to tap into the serenity that lies within all of us.

Stress Relief and Faith

Some of us find comfort in our religious beliefs, whatever they may be. This is called faith. All religions rely on the faith, and the power of belief, the power of faith, has shown its effectiveness in healing mind, body and spirit.

But is faith in a religion or the belief on one god essential to find inner piece? No, serenity resides within all of us. We just need the means to tap into this valuable, personal resource.

Can Serenity and Acceptance get you Peace within yourself?

There are things you can change in this life (like yourself) and there are things over which you have no control, like the weather. If it rains on the day of the big game, you may be disappointed but you’re able to accept the inevitable without any psychic scars. You’ll play next weekend.

Of course, not all potentially stressful situations are so easy to accept. Take the unapproachable manager at work who always tears you down. That’s something you have to live with every workday - or do you?

Stress Relief and Peace Within

Stress relief comes from being able to accept that managers tirades. Even get to the point where you can ignore them. You can make an effort by personalizing the relationship. Talk about his family, his interests, his stresses. You can take action to change some things. But not all.

Yes, it’s true! Serenity, Birth, Life, Death, Infinity

My work allows me the privilege of providing stress and depression relief for terminally ill patients, and in this work, I’ve learned acceptance. The things I can control and those I can’t.

Many of my patients die as soon as we establish a bond. I remind myself that this is the way things are supposed to be. It’s all part of the circle of life. And this thought brings me serenity even during the most tragic of times.

Know What You Can Change. Accept what You Can’t Change.

This is the true meaning of serenity - an understanding of those things that are out of your control and an acceptance of these elements. Indeed, there are things you can change - and change for the better. Your family life, your neighborhood, your community, yourself, your health - the list is endless.

These are things of which you are in charge and can affect change. However, when life presents you with an event you can’t change, accepting our personal limitations will provide serenity. Even in the worst of times.

Stress Relief thoughts

Stress relief thoughts can help you to be more productive. The beautiful thing about thoughts is that you can have any kind of thoughts you desire. Whether you have positive or negative opinions you cannot turn off your thinking.

Your thoughts are going to determine how successful you are in coping with your daily stresses.

Let me explain.

Mary came to see me and requested my assistance because “I am paralyzed in my life. I have been trying to create change for years.” I suggested to Mary that she first need to change her present state by examining herself. It is important that you take stock of your present resources so that you know what is missing.

How do you take stock of your resources?

In order to discover what resources are missing you need to take a piece of paper and draw a line down the center. On one side of the page you list your negative thought and on the other side your positive thoughts. This information tells you visually about you resources.

What do we do with our thoughts?

Generally speaking when you’re stuck it is because of your state of mind. Yes, your thoughts and feelings. What we try to do with our thoughts is to get rid of them.

Attempting to lose your thoughts only worsens the situation. I admit that we are busy but we need to find a way to stop. We need to pause and observe our thoughts.

How do we take a break in our busy day?

Taking a 20 minute break each day is necessary. I am not talking about a coffee or a smoking break. I am talking about a reflective or meditative break.

Having a pause or slowing down is a way to take a break. When you learn how to slow down on a regular basic you will gain profound insights. Consequently you will stop rushing and be more productive.

So what is the moral of the story?

To ensure good health we need to practice taking a break or meditative pause on a daily basic for at least 20 minutes per day.
