In a hurry get stress relief. Does this sound familiar to you? Searching for stress relief while you are rushing around on a daily basic can be frustrating. However, when you learn how to slow down you may discover a very important lesson.
Let me explain
Mary was rushing around like a chicken that had lost its head. She sought my help in finding more time to have fun in her busy schedule. I reviewed her week to see what were the highs and the lows of her experiences for the week. Mary shared two important lessons with me.
Lesson one
Mary now understands what it means to rush. Mary explained that she used to rush to go to the bathroom, rush to brush her teeth, rush to comb her hair and rush to make love. Mary also stated that she not could sensibly explain her rushing around, although for many months she expected me to give her a logical explanation. I was curious to know what the difference that made the difference was.
Lesson two
Mary explained that she had been operating on automatic and blinded to the idea of taking a break. She felt she was taking a break in her stressful frustrated state. Her regular practice of relaxation and meditation has helped change her perspective.
The new insight she now receives on a regular basic from meditation has given her more time and energy to have fun. Now that Mary has changed he rview she admits that all these activities (rushing to go to the bathroom, rushing to brush her teeth, rushing to comb her hair and rushing to make love) used to be done in a stressful state.
How did Mary discover that she needed stress relief?
It is important to note that Mary did not realize that she was stressed out. The way she operated was normal to her. However, the insights that Mary got from meditating on a regular basic were all the proof that she needed to convince her that she was in a constant hurry.
So what is the moral of the story?
You may be aware that a friend or love one needs help. However, until that person admits that they have a “problem” and is willing to get help, you cannot help them.
