Eating habits can change and be different for each person. Some people have their own “comfort” foods to help ease the symptoms of depression.

It can be chocolate, pastries, or that greasy burger from your favorite fast-food restaurant! Maybe your depression causes you to lose all interest in food.

Pressures of daily living:

School pressures, work stress, and strife in your personal life can cause depression. Financial difficulties are one of the biggest causes of depression. With gas and food prices at an all-time high, it can cause severe depression for the person responsible for the care and feeding of their family.

Depression can be caused by chemical imbalances in the brain, which may only be treatable with medications and therapist help. Shifts in hormone levels can also cause depression. Many women experience post partum depression after the birth of a baby because of the hormones that are changing in their body.

Many others may fall into depression when they are faced with an obstacle that seems to be a no-win situation. If you hate your job but must still provide an income for your family, it is easy to fall into depression.

The state of depression can remain until you resolve the conflict by either finding another job, or reconciling your mind to accept your present job until the time is right to find another one.

What causes depression for me is different from my wife and other loved ones. We are all distinct individuals and stressors or sadness is handled by some better than others.

No one knows why some individuals suffer from depression more than anyone else, but many causes are alike. We just react to them differently.

A client, let’s call her Susan who suffered from depression was able to stop using prescription drugs after she learned how to relax anytime anywhere. She also discovered that when she had a  positive purpose  it very easy for her to focus.
