Stress Relief: Busy business people and working moms can avoid stressful situations in their relationships by finding the root cause of the problem.

Let me explain;

Elizabeth had an upset in her relationship. Like some busy business people and working moms she avoided confrontation by not calling her partner for 10 days. After 10 days with my facilitation, she was able to make the phone call to her partner.

The phone call allowed her to experience some stress relief. So the question that may be asked is; “what has this got to do with her weight problem?”

Elizabeth had been avoiding stressful situations for many years and she continued to avoid them until this behavior ended up with health consequences. Her doctor finally told her she had to lose some weight.

Elizabeth like many of my clients have been avoiding stressful situations because they claim they cannot find more time to stay focused on their health.

Interestingly enough some busy business people and working moms admit to me, in my private practice, that they are aware that they are avoiding stressful situations. They also acknowledge that nobody has challenged them before. Not only that, the resulting health issue (weight problems) gives them a kick in the butt and then they may rush to find a program to help them with their weight problem or not.

One more thing about avoiding stressful situations – it’s important;

Elizabeth was caught in a habit of avoiding stressful situations. This behavior of avoiding stressful situations allowed her to avoid stress and to relax by ignoring the situation. This avoidance behavior which provided some benefit of relaxation and stress relief had serious health consequences.

This health issues for Elizabeth resulted in binge eating, irritability, impatience and lack of self confidence.

Sooner or later Elizabeth had to deal with the root cause of her problem. This experience allowed her to understand her pattern of behavior.

Elizabeth now understands that she ran away to avoid stressful situations, which made her relax (finding whatever substitute made her feel better) rather than face the stressful situation.

Weight problems tend to follow a similar pattern; when an embarrassing incident occurs in our lives we tend to ignore it. Ignoring it, somehow hoping it will go away. We may distort the situation and pretending it never happen; however, every now and then this memory rears its ugly head.

Here are three reasons why busy business people and working moms must take action about their weight problems.

Reason # one:

Eventually, some busy business people and working moms may reach a point when this avoidance behavior is no longer relaxing and they begin to feel very uncomfortable and powerless.

Reason # Two;

They can no longer hide from their weight problems because of the physical discomfort of their clothes fitting too tightly.

Reason # Three;

They feel fat ugly and worthless and no longer enjoy the stress relief of taking care of themselves.

Finally, avoiding stressful situations is only a bandage like weight problems. Once busy business people and working moms can understand the root cause of their problem and get the appropriate help, it becomes very easy for them to see their beauty within. These insights will allow them to notice the experience of staying focused, finding more time to enjoy the small joys of nature and becoming more aware of the positive things they are saying about themselves.
